The Problem as I see it
Healthcare platforms are often built around internal clinical processes rather than the people actually using them. People arrive at these sites under stress—looking for answers for themselves or their families, only to find fragmented journeys and clinical jargon. When a digital tool adds friction to an already anxious moment, it doesn't just frustrate users; it weakens their trust in the provider.
Where I have seen Challenges
Designing in this space means balancing high emotional needs with strict regulatory requirements. My work across agencies and drug manufacturers has shown me that the challenge isn't just about data accuracy. It is about proving the experience works through deep discovery and validation. I solve for:
- Evidence-Based Design: Using discovery and user testing to ensure complex clinical data is actually understood by patients.
- The Emotional Load: Designing for users who may be anxious or distracted, ensuring the path forward is always the easiest one to find.
- Operational Integrity: Streamlining workflows for clinicians and administrators by validating tools in their real-world environment.
How I Work
I approach healthcare design through a lens of extreme empathy and evidence. I use discovery and testing to validate that clinical information is actually being understood by the patient in their real-world environment. My work is about reducing the cognitive load on the user, ensuring that even under stress, the path to care or information is the most obvious thing on the screen.
Results
• Reduced confusion and drop-off in critical flows
• Improved trust and perceived clarity through better hierarchy and language
• Stronger alignment between patient needs and internal workflows
• More consistent experiences across web and mobile through shared patterns
